IM BACK....did anyone miss me?

IIIM BAAAACK!

i was sick for a week with somekinda weird bug.

threw my weight loss stuff and monitoring of my TYPE 2 DIABETES all over the place into a spin.
didnt do much pricking, or eating, or monitoring, or meds takign while i was under the weather for the duration of the illness.

so, i feel well enough again, to pick the pieces back up and start again on the task of the journey TOMARROW.

ive joined a couple of really neat sites that help in support of the issue (whatever yours happenes to be)
one is:
www.SPAKPEOPLE.com
this ones neat because it has a CALORIE COUNTER on the site that you can follow, OR you can put in your food and it COUNTS THE CALORIES FOR YOU!!!
how neat is that?!?!?!?!
they also have a point system, for things like: drinking your daily water intake...for each glass, you get a point. when you enter it in.
they have a ton of HEALTHY recipes. which i have to go thru and look over.

then the other site is:
www.DAILYSUPPORT.com
and you can join a group, specific to your issue, and they have a TON of issues you may fall into...and you can ask advice, support, get to know ppl, and in both develop great realtionships with ppl who are struggling in the same areas of life you are.

im on both for:
TYPE 2 DIABETES
HIGH CHOLETEROL
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.

this whole diabetes thing has me very lost....theres so muc to know, but no real avenue to a good starting place.

the DR recommended a nutritionist, and i really need to get to one, but it takes away from craigs job, and money to do it.
DR review is in 2 weeks i think, and hes going to be very disapointed to know i havnt seen a nutritionsit yet.
all i need to know is WHAT CAN I AND WHATCANT I EAT WITH DIABETES?

i keep hearing watch the carbs, but WHICH carbs?
weve practically switched from regular pasta to WHOLE GRAIN: SPAGETTI, veggie based (tri-colored) SPIRALPASTA, and everything else were weeding OUT of the lifestyle.
i eat WHOLE WHEAT BEAD. i have for years. i actually prefer it to white bread.
not alot of SWEET stuff in the house. the guys make PB & honey sandwiches instead of jellie or jams which are allmost ALL sugar.
no kool-aid drinks, water and UNSWEET juices.
2% milk
HEALTHY CEREALS as opposed to SUGARED
GROUND TURKEY meat over GROUND BEEF.
CHICKEN BREAST (SKINLESS) as opposed to WHOLE CHICKEN PARTS
fruits/ veggies
i even opt for vinigtrette dressings as opposed to cream based ones.

so for the nmost part, im on the program.

HAD MY DR FOLLOW-UP...it wasnt so great

yes, i went for the follow-up. in a way, im thankful i did even tho the news isnt the greatest.

craig and myself both sat in the office listening to the dr dispence his knowledge to me.

i have type 2 diabetes, and because i do i require meds and a meter. (THANK GOODNESS
I DONT HAVE TO INJECT INSULIN!!!)

i also have high colesterol, which also requires meds.

and high blood pressure, more meds.

he advised we take an education course on diabetes which showes us how to cook, meal plan, count calories, monitor glucose etc.

and wants to see me in 3 weeks....again.

he did mention that if i had surgery its a high possibility that all of this would go away and wouldnt be an issue any longer.
im leaning more and more towards the idea to have it done.

after the drs we went to the store (walmart) to get everything filled.

i came home with a glucose meter (5 bucks) ACCU-CHECK ACTIVE
lancets
strips
meds: METFORMIN
            LISINOPRIL
and samples:
            VITORIN
and ACOTOS

i also went online looking for a support group that i could connect with online.
found an awsome site that has a variety of subject matter from, marraige to
well, just about anything related to health, the mind, and being a better, healthier you...
www.dailysupport.com
so far i am really pleased with the site.

i tried very hard last night to prick myself, wehn craig called to say he was on his way home i was in tears because of the fear i have twards meedles.
it took me forever to get the thing done...but i did prick myself.
my reading read: 385 to his reading of 182!!!!!!!

this is really hard for me because i have no idea hwere to start with the maintenece of this issue.
i feel lost in a whirlwind of information.

**SIGH**

i just would like it to all go away

DR LEFT A MSG....it wasnt so good.

well, the dr called and left an update for me to know about the bloodwork that he had to send off.

i have TYPE 2 DIABETES. which i believe can be handled with diet and exercise.
i also have high colesterol (i wouldnt doubt that, we had spagetti a few days before that i finished up the day before i went to the appointment.

so, craig resheduled me for a followup on friday (tomarrow) to discuss the issues.

**sigh**

i also, signed up for some supportgroups online for:
OBESITY
and TYPE 2 DIABETES
thru: www.dailystrength.com

they have any number of support groups you can join and derive support and and answers from.
they also have a blog there as well, that i have started just to keep track of the progress and day-to-day stuff on either subject im signed up for.

i intially did a goole search on the words: TYPE 2 DIABETES SUPPORT and it, of course handed me several options to go to, i think DAILYSTRENGTH was the first hit.
i serached in the sight for TYPE 2 DIABETES and signed up and did another search for GASTRIC BYPASS, which led me to: OBESITY. and i signed up for that as well.

if any of you are looking for support ONLINE and it can be for ANYTHING, id sugest that site as an avenue for you to concider.
